I bought a collar, how do I control it?

Collars must be controlled by a Holder or Belt of some type. This places maximum control in the hands of the master/owner. The master should be able to control the collar wearer in almost every situation. And that is why a Holder or Belt is in use. You can find more information on what a Holder or Belt will do in the Holder Section of this wiki. Why would you let the collar's commands and requirements control the master? This needs to stop, give the control back to the master where it belongs.

My (product) doesn't seem to be working right. What can I do to make sure it isn't just me?

You can reset your product by doing this...

Directions:

  1. Go into the Build (or Edit) menu (Ctrl-3). Make sure you are using the Edit menu, the mouse cursor should be an Arrow and not a Wand.
  2. Select (or Click) on the object that you want to reset. You will know it is selected becuase it will be highlighted.
  3. Once highlighted, use the Tools (or Advanced on SL Client Version 1.20+) dropdown menu at the top of your SecondLife Client.
  4. Then select Reset Scripts in Selection near the bottom of the Tools dropdown.

This will reset the scripts to being brand new again. If there are any pets or owners stored in the database, they will be downloaded again. No information should be lost.

I just got the Updater for my Collar/Holder. What do I do with this?

This is very easy to use, simply drag the Updater from your inventory onto the ground; then detach your Collar/Holder and drag that too from your inventory to the ground; next, touch the Updater. Make sure that you are in an area that allows scripts to be ran. When it is rezzed to the ground it will run through a self-test then tell you that it is ready. Touching it will start the updating process where it will connect with your collar/holder and update your product to the latest version.

My HUD isn't responding, what's going on?

I will answer this with another question, are you wearing the CTD product that it goes with? Also you will need to make sure your product the proper version to allow HUD communiation. Holder/Belts should be 1.335+ and collars should be 1.401+.

HUDs, or Head Up Displays, are used to give the user graphical menus and options for given applications. This is not limited to CTD products. The HUD that comes with the Holder, Belts, and/or Collars are just that. A graphical user interface for the product that you are trying to control. If the holder, belt, or collar are not attached, then the HUD will simply not work. The reason for this is that there is nothing for the HUD to get commands from or give commands to.

Once I put it on I got a Stack-Heap Error. Now it isn't doing anything. What do I do?

This is caused by the script controlling the collar has ran out of memory. As we all know, SecondLife isn't perfect, however we work with it how we can. In designing this product it is our goal to leave enough remaining memory with the script so that it can stay operational for the extent of its life (which means forever). There can be many factors however that may cause this to use more memory then normal. Lag, location, even an avatar's name whether being the person wearing the product or a owner/pet of the product can use more memory. At least 10% of a script's overall memory is left for customer use. Also, SecondLife at times has something referred to as Memory Leaks. An operation can use a specific amount of memory at once instance, then use more during the next even though the same operation was performed. There are ways to get it reset and working normally again.

Follow these instructions here to reset your collar.

I don't know the commands to type for my slave's collar, how do I control them?

The CTD Collar System does not use chat commands for its ability to control the collars, it is 100% menu driven. All of its instructions and commands are used through a Holder or Belt that the Master wears. Why give the slave the control by allowing them to give themselves commands, when you are the master? So there are not any chat commands needed to control the slave, however, there is a Chat Command Plug-in that can used if it must be required.

I bought a Plug-In script for my CTD Product. SecondLife won't let me put it in to use it. What do I do?

Due to how SecondLife has permissions set up you are unable to add scripts to worn attachments that are No Copy. If you have have a collar go to the Plug-Ins / Add-Ons: Collars page and if you have a belt or holder, go to the Plug-Ins / Add-Ons: Holders page for step by step instructions.

My (product) is no longer in my Inventory! What happened to it?

I honestly do not know. SL has been known for its loss of inventory, crashes, etc. I have had several items of mine simply disappear from inventory which has set me back in months of work (scripts, textures, etc.). CTD is not responsible for any inventory loss, damages, or misplacement on your part. There are a few things to make sure that you have not simple "dragged-and-dropped" it into another folder and just lost track of it.

  • Check your Trash. You may have accidently pressed Delete on your keyboard.
  • Use the SEARCH bar at the top of your Inventory window and type in the name of your product, OR type in CTD. I place that label on all of my products, so if you have not renamed it to something yourself, then this will work.
  • Look in your Lost and Found folder AND go to the last location you were wearing the product. You may have used the Drop menu option instead of Detach.
